About

I’m Ami Collofello, Dysfunctional Designer at your service. I have extensive experience in Photoshop and Illustrator and I like to make pretty things with them. I got my start making websites in 1998 armed with a giant HTML book and Photoshop 4. Today, I create hi-resolution digital scrapbooking supplies, corporate sales collateral, websites, and other fun stuff.

Along with designing, I have a few other commitments in the form of my husband and kids. My husband and I got married in 2003, and in 2004 we became parents of boy/girl twins. Two years later…BAM! Another kid. A sweet boy. A couple of months after I gave birth to the small child, we decided it would be wise to move thousands of miles away from all friends and family. After all, who needs help with two year old twins and a newborn? I kid, mostly. But we did leave the Chicago suburbs and headed to Portland, OR. (And for the record, we do love it here.)

Frequently Asked Questions:

What the foot?

Ah yes, the foot. My husband, many years ago while working on his BFA, did a very large scale drawing of my foot. When I decided to start working under the name Dysfunctional Design (around the same time) we both agreed that a giant hand-drawn representation of my foot would be a great logo. So I started putting my foot all over stuff. It’s quite fun.

What is digital scrapbooking?

Digital scrapbooking is much like traditional scrapbooking, but without the paper, scissors, glue, and other things that are dangerous to people like me. All the supplies are digital files – papers, embellishments, bows, stamps…pretty much anything you can think of can be found in digi-scrap supplies. Then the supplies are assembled in a graphics program like Photoshop or Paintshop Pro. Much safer for people who are inept with physical products. And no mess!

Why do you drink so much Pepsi?

I dunno. I like it a lot.

Where are my socks?

*sigh* I don’t know.

Can you please go grocery shopping?

Ugh.

Who are the people who frequently ask these questions?
