The Wisdom of a Five (almost six)-Year-Old
My wonderful husband made a much needed trip to the grocery store this morning. Since I’m still recovering from pneumonia, I asked him to get some frozen meals -you know, almost real food that requires no prep on my part. I’m partial to Marie Callendar meals.
I set forth making said meals for lunch today: fettuccine for the kids, turkey/gravy/potatoes/veggies for me. To my surprise, Dalian actually thanked me. “Thanks for the food mommy!” Darn kid, too cute for his own good. So I said “You’re welcome!” Then I added that they should thank daddy since he was the one who bought the food. I was met with “But daddy’s not here!” from the boys. And what does Celia say? “We can say thank you right now because he’ll hear it in his heart.”
Profound words from that goofy little thing.
